Raksha Bandhan at CM resident with traditional fervour

Bhopal: Raksha Bandhan festival was celebrated at Chief Minister’s residence with traditional joy and fervour here today. Process of tying Rakhis to Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan continued for over two and a half hours in which sisters of all castes and communities participated. They tied Rakhis to the Chief Minister and wished him healthy and long life.
Sisters had brought decorated Thalis with them in traditional way. Sisters of minority community had come in a group. Large number of sisters decorated wrist of the Chief Minister by tying colourful Rakhis on it. Shri Chouhan sought blessings from elder sisters and blessed the younger ones.
Extending Raksha Bandhan greetings, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that he prays to the Almighty that sisters remain happy and prosperous in life and contribute to progress of the state and country. He said that a number of schemes are being operated in the state to ensure economic, social and educational empowerment of women. He said that daughters are boon and not a burden. Ladli Laxmi Yojana is being implemented in the state. Along with it, Kanya Abhibhavak Yojana has been chalked out under which parents of only daughters will be provided pension. He urged the society to honour mothers, sisters and daughter, contribute in helping them to move ahead in life and take pledge to consider sons and daughters equal.
Chief Minister’s wife Smt. Sadhna Singh, MLA Smt. Lalita Yadav, Bhopal Development Authority Chairman Shri Surendranath Singh, Mineral Resources Development Corporation Chairman Shri Rameshwar Sharma, Housing Board Chairman Shri Rampal Singh, Child Rights Protection Commission Chairperson Smt. Usha Chaturvedi and Bhopal BJP President Shri Alok Sharma were also present on the occasion.
