Rahul Gandhi Lashes out at BJP in Panna

Bhopal: AICC general secretary and Congress scion – Rahul Gandhi, while addressing voters in the Panna area of the Khajuraho parliamentary constituency on Sunday, lashed out at the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and said it was using terrorism to divert attention from the key issue of the welfare of the “aam aadmi” in the country.

Speaking at a pre-election rally in support of Congress candidate Raja Pateria, Gandhi said the BJP was politicisng the issue despite the fact that it was responsible for “letting off” those that were behind the 26/11 terror strikes in Mumbai during the Kandahar hijack.

All praise for the UPA government, Gandhi said that the action launched by the Manmohan Singh government against Pakistani terror outfits in the aftermath of the Mumbai terror attacks was decisive and one that forced Islamabad to bring the perpetrators of the audacious attacks to book, and accept that its territories were used to launch the attacks.

“Look at the UPA Government, which is truly a government of the aam-aadmi (common men). And look at the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh. It is a government of a privileged few,” he said.

He alleged that only 10 per cent of the central funds, allocated to the state by the UPA, was spent on the welfare of the poor and tribals.

He also accused the state government of failing on the “Bijli Sadak, Pani” fronts.
