Prof. Misra Assumes Charge as Director IGRMS

Bhopal  —  Noted academician and educationist Professor Kamal K Misra Thursday assumed office as Director of the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya in the state capital.

Misra, a recipient of the prestigious Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship (1996-97), UK and the Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Award (2003-04), is the former head of the anthropology department at the University of Hyderabad.

An alumnus of prominent institutions, like the Utkal University Bhubaneswar, Jawaharlal Nehru University and University of Kent, UK, Misra had earlier taught Social Anthropology and South East Asian Culture at Utkal University, Bhubaneswar.

As a Fulbright scholar, he also taught at the Austin College, Texas, USA.
Created through the efforts of US Senator J. William Fulbright in 1946, the Fulbright scholarship is awarded as part of the Fulbright Program to foster international research and collaboration.

Misra is also part of the Editorial Advisory Board of Indian Anthropologist, The Anthropologist, The Oriental Anthropologist, Journal of Ethnomedicine and The Scientific Journal International and has completed a large number of Research Projects and was a consultant for the UNDP for the project on Self- Governance in Tribal Areas.
