Power-driven cottage and small industries to be set up in villages

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the State Government is committed to bringing about prosperity in common people’s life at any cost. He said that availability of 24X7 power supply is a significant step in this direction. He said that power-driven cottage and small industries will be set up in villages following 24-hour power supply. Shri Chouhan launched Atal Jyoti Abhiyan in 22nd district Betul today.
Shri Chouhan said that following availability of 24X7 power supply in every village, the State Government will also promote setting up of cottage and small industries there. Recalling power crisis in past years, the Chief Minister said that there was a time when electricity had become a remote dream for people. Farmers used to irrigate their fields through generators and traders used inverters to run their business. The Chief Minister said that the existing State Government took the resolve of supply power to every household in the state round-the-clock and provide adequate power for irrigation also and fulfilled it. For this, the government has set up power plants at a number of places in the public and private sectors.
The Chief Minister said that earnest efforts are being made to ensure irrigation in every field in the state. He also referred to waiver of surcharge on power bills and facilities being given in paying bills. He said that now, reading of tubewells will not be taken. Instead, farmers will be charged at flat rate of Rs. 1200 per horsepower per annum. The Chief Minister advised the district to ensure judicious utilisation of Rs. 11.50 crore sanctioned under infrastructure head.
Energy Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla said that availability of 24X7 power supply is vital to ensure state’s development. A number of significant steps have been taken towards this direction. In future, the state will be in a position to supply power to other states as well. The Energy Minister said that power companies have been asked to ensure that power is supplied 24X7 hours and for this, a strong monitoring system should be evolved.
