Police Use Mild Force as Encroachers Turn Violent at Aishbagh
Bhopal — Tension prevailed in the Aishbagh area of the state capital on Wednesday evening after angry shopkeepers resorted to stone pelting to desist an anti-encroachment drive, the police later used mild force to control the situation.
Trouble started at around 1900 hours when local traders objected to the removal of handcarts and makeshift kiosks that encroach the roads in the area. The action was an apparent attempt to facilitate the free flow of vehicular traffic.
An irate mob soon gathered at the site and indulged in stone pelting following which the police employed mild force to disperse the unruly crowd.
Senior police officials later said that the situation was under control.
