‘One World, One Home, One Heart’

BHOPAL: September 29 is recognized as the World Heart Day. Relevance of this day is to inform the public about heart related emergencies.

The theme of the occasion this year is ‘One World, One Home, One Heart’. The focus is on increasing awareness about the global impact of heart disease and stroke.

In India cardiac ailment has been officially declared the number one killer. But thanks to 108 ambulance services who provided catering to 6,525 cardiac emergencies in Madhya Pradesh. So its inception assumes significance on the World Heart Day observed on Today.

In partnership with Madhya Pradesh government GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute is providing 108 emergency response services in Bhopal, Sagar, Damoh, Sehore, Datia, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Indore and Rewa.

On 16 July 2009, 108 started operation in Madhya Pradesh. Since then GVK EMRI has handled more than 84,000 medical emergencies. Of these, 6, 252 cases were cardiac related.

According to the report out of these cardiac emergencies, there were 2105 cases of chest pain and 709 cases of elevated blood pressure. More then 600 cases were very critical.

Rajesh Waghmare, R-COO, GVK EMRI, Madhya Pradesh said, “Heart attack is extremely unpredictable and may lead to death. Whenever anyone faces symptoms of sudden chest pain associated with nausea, vomiting, palpitations or sweating immediately call 108, we are there 24×7 at your service.”

On this auspicious occasion several events like rallies run and free checkup camps organized in the city for awareness creation among locals.
