Normalcy Returning to Violence-Hit Maksi Town
Bhopal — The violence-hit Maksi town of Shajapur district in Madhya Pradesh appeared to be returning to normalcy some two days after a clash over a cricket match took a communal turn on Friday, prompting authorities to impose curfew in the town.
No untoward incident was reported from anywhere in Maksi during the two-hour relaxation in curfew from 1000 to 1200 hours on Sunday, said officials.
A 22-year-old youth was killed in firing and six others were injured in clashesthat rocked the town of Friday.
The injured are undergoing treatment at Shajapur district hospital while the last rites of the youth were performed amidst tight security Saturday,” Ujjain range Deputy Inspector General of Police Varun Kapoor was quoted as saying.
A compensation of Rs.1 lakh has been sanctioned for the family of the deceased while around 25 people have been taken into custody, police said.
