Mumbai Cops Update Lists of SP, MNS Aggressors: Reports

Attempting to desist Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and Samajwadi Party workers from holding violent street agitations, cops in Mumbai are updating lists of “aggressive” workers from both the parties to help combat any untoward incident, say media reports.

Those figuring on the two lists would be the first to face preventive measures if the controversy that rocked the Maharastra Assembly on Monday spilled on to the streets, like it is threatening to.

On Monday, SP MLA Abu Azmi was assaulted by members of the Raj Thackeray-led MNS for taking oath in Hindi. The attack on Azmi by MNS legislators and their subsequent suspension triggered violent protests in several parts of the state including Mumbai.
