MP Government to launch mass movement to protect daughters

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh government will launch mass movement led by society to protect daughters, help them move ahead in life and ensure their dignity. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan made the beginning of this mass movement at Gwalior today on birth anniversary of Veerangana Maharani Laxmi Bai. On the occasion, one lakh people raised their hands to express their commitment towards women’s dignity, safety and honour.
Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that people indulging in eve teasing and harassing them in other ways will be deprived of all kinds of government facilities. For this, a data base of such culprits will be prepared. He also announced to alunched a helpline in the interest of daughters. On the premises of Gwalior Vyapar Mela, he administered a pledge to massive audience not to mete out any indiscrimination with women and oppose violence against them.
The State Government will tighten noose around eve teasers and those misbehaving with women. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that data base of such people will be prepared so that strict punishment can be given to them. Besides, such people will be deprived of facilities like character certificate, driving licence and passport etc. The Chief Minister said that a toll-free number will be provided for women’s security in Madhya Pradesh soon. The chief Minister said that PC&PNDT Act will also be implemented strictly in the state.
Shri Chouhan said that beginning of state-wide mass movement led by society for women’s empowerment has been made from Gwalior. Now, programmes on this pattern will also be held throughout the state.
In-charge of Gwalior district and Public Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra, Medical Education Minister Shri Anup Mishra, Animal Husbandry Minister Shri Ajay Vishnoi, Members of Parliament Shri Narendra Singh Tomar and Smt. Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Rajya Sabha members Shri Prabhat Jha, Smt. Maya Singh and Shri Kaptan Singh Solanki, Gwalior Mayor Smt. Sameeksha Gupta, Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram and representatives of various religions were also present on the dais. Other people’s representatives of Gwalior district, representatives of various educational, social and voluntary organisations, large number of people and students were also present on the occasion.
