MP considering long term strategy to combat drought situations
Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh will present a glaring example in combating the drought situations and improving the farm output. The senior officers of Indian Administrative Service, Indian Forest Service and Police Service, who visited villages for assessment of magnitude of drought and loss of crops will suggest long time strategy. Based on their insights and first hand inputs a roadmap will be designed for efficient farming, rural development and welfare of farmers.
The Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan on October 29 will meet officers and seek their suggestions and report. The officers will meet in five groups on October 30 and prepare a detailed report. This will be presented before the Cabinet on third of November. Each group will have two senior coordinators. Divisional commissioners will also be included. The Task Force on Agriculture will meet on October 31 to suggest long term measures for agriculture. The relief measures will continue.
The Chief Minister while addressing a meeting at Mantralaya here today, he said that feedback from the fields will help draw suitable strategies.
The Chief Minister said that expenditures will be curtailed to give maximum relief to the farmers. He said that senior officers who visited the rural parts have minutely assessed the ground realities and status of implementation of government schemes. Now they will suggest measures to further improve the schemes.
The Chief Minister asked the officers to give suggestions on change in crop pattern and giving remunerative prices to the farmers for their produce, alternative sources of income of farmers, improving job-oriented schemes, beneficiary-oriented schemes. He also sought suggestions on effective mechanism for distribution of relief funds.
Shri Chouhan said that better management of the available water resource and arrangements for drinking water management in rural areas deserves focus.
The meeting was attended by Ministers and officials. They suggested various measures based on their field experiences.
