Hard Fought win for Kolkata

CUTTACK: The Lackluster performance of Deccan Chargers continues. Though they give a hard fight to KKR but still it was not enough for them to win the match.

KKR won the toss and invited Chargers to bat. Chargers made a good start but they do not look to get a big score at any stage of their innings. Dhawan made 50 runs but it was a slow and boring innings. He took 50 balls to reach his fifty which is not upto the demand of T20 cricket.

Other players also played too much slowly and in the end Chargers just manages to put 126 runs on the board.

KKR also does not chase the target well but because of small target they do not feel losing the game at any point. Once again their hard hitters and costliest players fail which includes Yousuf Pathan, Mc Cullum and Gambhir.

But even after all of their failures they were able to win the game. KKR had to fight hard for the win. Tiwary and Gambhir played sensibly and made 30 runs each to guide KKR for victory. Steyn bowled superbly and took two wickets.

Brief Scores:
Deccan Chargers 126 for 7 (Dhawan 50, Balaji 2-22)
Kolkata Knight Riders 127 for 5 (Tiwary 30*, Steyn 2-24)

Brett Lee is the Man of the Match.

Lee: “We summed the wicket up pretty well today. We tried to put the new ball up there to try and get the nicks, but then we took pace off it. Only four [overseas players] make it to the XI, a lot of guys miss out, that
is the way it is.”

Gautam Gambhir: “The wicket was low, credit to Deccan for the way they bowled. It was a matter of applying
themselves, and Manoj and the others did that.”

Kumar Sangakkara: “We got a great start, was a great platform. We should have got 150, but KKR fielded brilliantly. We can talk about another missed catch probably, but we bowled well, and made it difficult for KKR.”
