More Funds for Progressive Urban Bodies: Gaur

Bhopal — Urban Administration and Development Minister Babulal Gaur Wednesday urged urban bodies to develop at least one ideal road, endeavor to check stray animals and make their township free of garbage to earn more development funds.

The minister was addressing a meeting of Bhopal division mayors and presidents of Nagar Palikas, Nagar Panchayats and urban bodies in the state capital.

Bhopal Mayor Krishna Gaur, Principal Secretary Urban Administration Raghav Chandra, Commissioner Urban Administration SN Mishra and chief municipal officers of various urban bodies were present on the occasion.

Gaur said Bhopal is being developed as a model city for other urban bodies to emulate.

Urging civic bodies to augment their income to speed up the development process, Gaur said progressive urban bodies will be given Rs 50 lakh each for construction of their office buildings.

In a bid to put a stop on the continued polluting of the river, Gaur directed officials to survey and list the effluents being drained into Narmada river from various cities.

Praising the development work undertaken by Harda Nagar Palika, the minister asked urban bodies situated along National Highways to initiate steps to beautify their main roads.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Secretary Urban Administration Raghav Chandra termed the City Development Plan (CDP) as the cornerstone of urban development and underlined the need to include all amenities and aspects in such plans.
