Media should be committed to social concerns also: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that media should be committed to social concerns also. He said that public welfare and national interests are paramount. Shri Chouhan was inaugurating IBC-24 news channel’s Madhya Pradesh telecast at a function here today.
Shri Chouhan said that media groups should also take initiative for formation of ethical groups. He said that cooperation of individuals and groups is necessary for public welfare and society building. Media has important role to play in this with a sense of responsibility. Truth should be brought before people in public interest. Besides, workers associated with public welfare organisations should also come forward so that reformatory steps can be ensured before it is too late. He said that media gives expression to good works being done in society by associating itself with social concerns. It can give direction to organisations working towards public welfare.
Former Union Minister Shri Kantilal Bhuria said that commitment, responsibility and credibility are main ingredients of media. D.B. Corporation’s Chairman Shri Ramesh Agrawal said that electronic media is expanding at a rapid pace on regional level. MP and State BJP President Shri Narendra Singh Tomar and IBC-24 Chairman Shri Suresh Goyal and Managing Editor of Hari Bhumi newspaper Shri Himanshu Dwivedi also spoke on the occasion. At the outset, a two-minute silence was observed to pay tributes to people killed in Naxalit attack in Chhattisgarh and natural calamity in Uttarakhand.
