Maoists Blow up BSNL Control Room in CG
Suspected Maoist rebels blew up a BSNL control room in the Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh, causing an estimated loss of Rs 5 million to the company, said media reports citing the police on Monday.
Over two dozen armed rebels barged into the control room-cum-equipment center on Sunday night and blew it up with explosives.
Narayanpur forms a part of the tinder-box Bastar region.
The explosion has totally destroyed the equipment at the control room.
Meanwhile, police deployment remains high across the state ahead of republic da7y6 celebrations on Tuesday.
The outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) has called for a three-day strike from January 25-27 to coincide with the celebrations.
