Madhya Pradesh is leading in development works

BHOPAL (MPINFO): Development works brought a pleasant change in Naxal-affected areas of state. Public-utility development works are being undertaken on priority in the Naxal-affected areas of the state. Construction of all-weather pucca roads and Anganwadis is being undertaken and arrangements for power, drinking water are being made in the villages in these areas.

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan have instructed the officers for efficient implementation of the integrated action plan. Constant monitoring has ensured quality in construction works and a pleasant change is being witnessed in the daily life of people.
The Integrated Action Plan (IAP) has been implemented since financial year 2010-11 in eight other states also including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

Nine districts of Madhya Pradesh have been covered under the integrated action plan including Anuppur, Mandla, Balaghat, Dindori, Seoni, Shahdol, Umaria, Sidhi and Singrauli. Madhya Pradesh has received a sum of Rs. 290 crore under the action plan so far while 5,088 development works are being undertaken in these districts at a cost of Rs. 419 crore 25 lakh. Due to efforts of Panchayats and Rural Development Minister Shri Gopal Bhargava, 1429 of these works have been completed at a cost of Rs. 129 crore 97 lakh.

Principal Secretary Rural Development and Development Commissioner Smt. Aruna Sharma informed that public-utility works have been given top priority under Integrated Action Plan, especially rural roads, drinking water, power and construction of Anganwadi buildings. Out of 1319 works started for drinking water supply, 793 works have been completed. Similarly, construction of 107 Anganwadi buildings out of 793 buildings has been completed. In the selected districts, work is in progress on 876 rural roads out of which 199 roads have been completed.

Madhya Pradesh leads in scheme’s implementation
It may be mentioned that Madhya Pradesh is the leading state in the implementation of IAP. From the construction works point of view, Madhya Pradesh leads over Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. In Madhya Pradesh, 5,088 sanctioned works have been started followed by Andhra Pradesh (1124), Maharashtra (4384), Uttar Pradesh (1548) and West Bengal (1272). Similarly, Madhya Pradesh also leads in utilisation of funds. So far, a sum of Rs. 129 crore 97 has been spent on public-utility development works under the scheme while Rs. 66 crore 3 lakh has been spent in Andhra Pradesh, Rs. 55 crore 60 lakh in Maharashtra, Rs. 37 crore 66 lakh in Uttar Pradesh, Rs. 21 crore 95 lakh in West Bengal and Rs. 107 crore 37 lakh in Bihar. As many as 3,659 construction works are in progress in the state against 422 works in Andhra Pradesh, 1717 works in Maharashtra, 211 works in Uttar Pradesh and 669 development works in West Bengal.
