Labourers, Construction Workers Board also to get subsidised food grains: CM

Bhopal: Labourers registered under Mukhyamantri Mazdoor Suraksha Yojana, Construction Workers Welfare Board, handcart and cycle rickshaw pullers, disabled and destitute persons will also be added to the list of below power line families and also provided wheat and salt at Re. 1 per kg and rice at Rs. 2 per kg. Giving this information, Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that administrative formalities for this will be completed soon. Shri Chouhan was holding discussions with a delegation of office-bearers of cooperative institutions and chairpersons of district cooperative banks here today. Representatives of cooperative institutions felicitated the Chief Minister for his welfaer policies and efforts for boosting cooperative movements.

Shri Chouhan said that the first priority is to provide maximum benefits to the poor through cooperative movement. Arrangements for providing loans to farmers at zero percent interest rate and advance storage of fertilisers have cast widespread impact. No shortage of fertilisers has been felt during last three years. He said that pace of development has also increased with acceleration of cooperative movement’s activities. The cooperative banks running in losses for years are now earning profit. Work capacity of cooperative banks has also increased due to core banking. He said that despite efforts of the State Government, the Union Government has not provided Rs. 600 crore as per norms of Vaidyanathan Committee. Shri Chouhan said that cooperative movement in the state should be such that it is studied in the country and abroad. He said that cooperative institutions’ role is vital in distributing food grains to the poor. No poor family in the state will remain hungry.
MARKFED’s Chairman Shri Ramakant Bhargava said that the institution is now earning profit due to public-oriented policy of the government. There was a time when this institution has reached brink of closure. On the occasion, Shajapur Central Cooperative Bank presented a cheque of Rs. 3 lakh 12 crore 658 for Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for assistance to Uttarakhand victims. Mahanagar Cooperative Bank, Bhopal also donated Rs. 51 thousand.
Sehore MLA Shri Ramesh Saxena, Warehousing Corporation Chairman Shri Rajendra Rajput, Shri Kishan Singh, Dairy Federation’s Chairman Shri Subhash Pandey, BJP Cooperative Cell’s President Shri Hemant Khandelwal, chairpersons and office-bearers of district cooperative banks were present on the occasion.
