Jakhar, Chouhan Laud ‘Slumdog’ Oscar Sweep

The Governor and the Chief Minister have congratulated the Slumdog Millionaire team for sweeping the 81st Annual Academy Awards night at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles on Monday (local time). Set in India, Slumdog, the rags to riches story of a Mumbai chai shop ‘Chotu’ won eight Oscars out of 10 nominations.

Governor Balram Jakhar in his message congratulated Bollywood composer AR Rehman, lyricist Gulzar, sound technician Resul Pookutty and the entire Slumdog Millionaire team for winning the prestigious Oscars.

In his message he said, “This is an unprecedented success for the whole team of Slumdog Millionaire and all Indians should be proud for this achievement.”

Expressing happiness over this great achievement, he expressed hope that Indian cinema would touch great heights in the coming years and the young film artistes should imbibe inspiration from this success of an Indian film.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, too, applauded the Slumdog Millionaire team and said the brilliantly talented team fulfilled the long-cherished dream of an Oscar win.

Chouhan said that this extraordinary feat would inspire the whole Indian film industry.
