ITBP jawans to learn Chinese language at Sanchi University

Bhopal. Officers and jawans of Indo Tibet Border Police (ITBP) will learn Chinese language at Sanchi Buddhist and Indic Knowledge University, Sanchi. Four ITBP officers have been nominated to attend Chinese language course, which is beginning from July 2016. These include 3 inspectors and one officer of sub-inspector rank. The certificate course also includes teaching of Chinese culture and public behaviour along with Chinese language. Officers of 18th, 48th and 49th battalions of ITBP will undergo the course for next one year.

Indo Tibet Border Police guards Indo-China borders. ITBP jawans are deployed on various check-posts and borders from Karakoram pass upto Jachhep-La pass in Arunachal Pradesh. The jawans guards country’s border in highly adverse conditions. Knowledge of language spoken in villages of China near the borders proves very useful for them.

So far, 24 candidates have applied for the course. It has total 20 seats and its last date is June 30. The university has fixed Rs. 2000 per semester as fee for the 2-semester course. No written exam for admission will be held in the university. Candidates have to appear in only interviews.

Number of visitors to and from China has increased considerably ever since China has emerged as major trade centre in the world during last 2 decades and business in India has witnessed tremendous growth. There are good job opportunities as bilingual translators with knowledge of Chinese language in embassies and multinational companies.

Apart from Chinese language, courses of MA, MSC, M Phil and PhD are also being started from this academic session in the university. Admission tests for these courses have been held on June 18 and interviews on June 28. Merit list will be released on June 30. Two other merit lists will be released on July 6 and 12. Admissions will begin from July 15 and session will commence from July 20.
