Inauguration of new office of DFID

BHOPAL: On Friday the Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Babulal Gaur inaugurated the new office of Department for International Development (DFID) at Housing Board colony Green Meadows at Arera Hills, Bhopal.

Principal Secretary Urban Administration Shri S.P.S. Parihar, Principal Secretary Woman and Child Development Shri B.R. Naidu, Commissioner, Urban Administration Shri Sanjay Shukla, Bhopal Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shri Manish Singh, Deputy Head, DFID, Sushri Spicer and Coordinator Sushri Jaya Singh Verma were present on the occasion.

Minister Shri Gaur lauded the infrastructural development works to the tune of Rs. 1728 crore being undertaken at various places in the state by DFID under Project Uday. He also had a word of praise for Madhya Pradesh District Poverty Initiatives Project (MPDPIP) under which works are being undertaken for capacity-building in the urban areas, development of urban slums as per the wishes of the slum dwellers and running employment-oriented training programmes. These works have improved the life standard of the poor living in slum areas.

Women sarpanchs of Shahdol and Dhar districts present there threw light on infrastructural development and women’s empowerment works being undertaken with the assistance of DFID in slum areas. They informed that apart from providing self-employment, works of social reforms have also been undertaken in the slum areas.
