In Bhopal, Azhar Bats for Younger Players

Bhopal: Former Team India captain and Congress MP from Moradabad, Azharuddin, arrived in the state capital on Tuesday.

He was in the city to attend an Iftaar party hosted by Bhopal (North) MLA Arif Aqueel.

Speaking to correspondents, the Hyderabad star said that the party high command would take a final call on the Andhra Pradesh Congress chorus seeking the nomination of late YSR’s son – Jagan Mohan Reddy – as chief minister of the state.

Batting for younger cricketers awaiting a national cap, Azhar criticised the selectors for exercising favour for former test captain Rahul Dravid.

“It would have been better if instead of Dravid, a young player was given an opportunity to play for the Indian team,” he said.

According to sources, the lanky former cricketer also visited the Muslim Education Society (MES) office during the day, and is said to have attended a dinner party hosted in his honour by former city Youth Congress president Arif Masood later in the day.
