Noting the significant decrease in heinous crimes and crimes against women after introduction of SSP System, the meeting was informed that the police have already cracked 86 per cent of the 707 heinous crimes committed in the district in the last 15-odd months.

It was decided to form special teams to solve the remaining 14 per cent cases.

While highlighting a marked downturn in incidents of murder, chain loot, theft, rioting, rape and vehicle lifting, the meeting was informed that the introduction of the SSP system has resulted in greater interaction between police officers and public representatives and stringent action against gambling, ‘satta’ and illicit liquor.

The new system has also resulted in a much-awaited decline in crimes against women, the meeting was told.

Expressing satisfaction over the functioning of the system, Minister Gupta attributed the success of the system to heightened synergy between police officials and instructed the IG and SSP to continue reviewing the system and forwarding the reports to him.
