Hearing of the issue Monica Bedi’s passport permission held on 29

BHOPAL: Underworld don Abu Salem’s alleged companion, film actor Monica Bedi, should not be issued a new passport, Bhopla police told Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Bhopal Superintendent of Police (SP) has made this recommendation in a report submitted before a single judge bench of Justice NK Gupta. The Bench directed to take the report on record and post the matter for hearing on July 29.

Here Bhopal Police registered a case of forgery and obtaining fake passports against Salem, Monica and others.

In 2007 Miss Bedi was acquitted in the fake passport case by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court.

The state Government appealed against the judgement in the Sessions Court which upheld Monica’s acquittal. After that the state had challenged the ruling in the High Court.

The HC asked the Bhopal SP to send his recommendation on the issue. Government Advocate Gitesh Singh Thakur said the SP has recommended that Monica should not be issued a new passport.

During the last court hearing, Monica’s lawyer submitted an application, saying since the actress has to go on a foreign tour for various programmes, she be issued a new passport.
