EC instructed officials to speed up the work of preparing photo id card

Bhopal. The election commission has directed all district collectors of Madhya Pradesh to expedite work of preparing voters photo identity cards.In a Videoconfrencing, Deputy Election Commissioner of India Vinod Zutshi has also asked them to dispose of applications received from voters during door-to-door survey invariably by August 14.
Shri Zutshi said that the process of including voters’ names in electoral rolls should be continued. He said that work of district where there is a difference in the number of voters as per population ratio will be reviewed again on July 15. Shri Zutshi said that number of voters will now be examined polling booth-wise. It will help assess correct number of voters in the state.
It was informed during videoconferencing that 35 lakh applications have been received for inclusion of voters’ names in electoral rolls in the state between April 15 and June 15. Still, there is difference of five lakh in the number of estimated and registered voters. District collectors were directed to make special efforts for including names of these left out voters in electoral rolls. Chief Electoral Officer Shri Jaideep Govind asked collectors to pay special attention to inclusion of names of voters who have completed 18 years of age recently and women.
Presentations by Jhabua and Indore collectors : During videoconferencing, Jhabua collector Smt. Jaishree Kiyawat informed that efforts to make voters aware and inclusion of eligible voters’ names in electoral rolls in the district. She informed that names of women were included in electoral rolls by convening their Panchayat. Indore collector Shri Raghavendra Singh threw light on the strategy chalked out in the district for including eligible voters’ names. The Deputy Election Commission lauded efforts made by both the districts.
