Lt. Gen. Shri Kanitkar calls on CM Shri Chouhan

Bhopal: General Officer Commanding of 21st Corps Lt. Gen. Shri R.V. Kanitkar called on Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and discussed Army’s expectations from the state government here today. Making special mention of “Maa Tujhe Pranam” scheme for arranging visits of state’s youths to country’s borders, Shri Kanitkar described it as a positive step of the state government.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that “Maa Tujhe Pranam” scheme aims as promoting spirit of patriotism among youths. Under the scheme, youths are sent to borders of the country to witness as to how soldiers discharge their duties courageously and with commitment braving adverse conditions.

Lt. Gen. Kanitkar said that Army can also provide guidance and pre-recruitment training to state’s youths willing to join Army. He informed that Army officers visit various colleges in the state and motivate youths to join army. Shri Kanitkar also discussed allotment of state government land for Army Welfare Housing, accommodation of ex-servicemen in police and other departments, making available land in Ujjain for polytechnic and ensuring supply of Narmada water in Bhopal-based Army area. He said that Army is always ready for serving the state in the event of any disaster including floods. The Chief Minister thanked Army for works in the interest of Madhya Pradesh. He said that every possible cooperation will be extended to Army. This is our duty. Principal Secretaries to CM Shri Manoj Shrivastava and Shri S.K. Mishra and Brigadier Sanjay Chawla were also present on the occasion.
