Govt Bans Gyneacologist from Conducting Surgeries after Patient Dies

After death of a woman operated by him for sterilisation, state government has banned a Gynaecologist in Shajapur from carrying out surgeries till further orders, said media reports.

Joint Director (Health), Ujjain Division, Dr Pushpa Gupta was quoted as saying by PTI that Dr VV Jain, who is posted at Aagar Government Hospital, has been barred from conducting surgeries till further order after a 28-year-old Kali Bai, whose sterilisation operation was performed by him on January 7 during a camp at Badod, succumbed to over-bleeding on January 9.

Gupta said that doctors referred Kali, a resident of Bijanagri village, to Ujjain soon after her condition deteriorated. She died in Ujjain during treatment, the report said.

A high-level inquiry would be conducted into the matter, she was quoted as saying.

The joint director said that a ban has been imposed on Dr Jain to perform any surgical operations till the completion of the inquiry.
