Govt Asks for Undertaking from Teachers on Education Act Rules

As the Right to Education comes into force today, Madhya Pradesh government has asked government school teachers to give an undertaking that they will abide by the rules prescribed by the act, which includes not giving private tuitions, reported IANS quoting sources in the education department.

Issuing a circular in this regard, the state school education ministry asked heads of government primary and middle schools to take an undertaking in triplicate from teachers that, among other things, they would not engage in coaching or giving private tuitions, report said.

In the meanwhile, education minister Archana Chitnis said that like every year, ‘School Chale Ham Abhiyan’ (Let’s go to school campaign), would be launched this year also, but it would conducted in two phases – from April 1 to 15 and from July 1 to 15 when the schools reopen after the summer break, report said.

She said that government issued instructions to divisional commissioners, collectors and heads of zila Panchayats to make this campaign successful.
