General category poor students also to get scholarships: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that now the state government will also give scholarships to students belonging to general category poor families. Shri Chouhan was inaugurating and laying foundation stones for 23 works costing over Rs. 11 crore at Keolari in Seoni district today.

Referring to development of irrigation and power sectors in the state, Shri Chouhan said that irrigation capacity has increased from 7 lakh 50 thousand hectare to 25 lakh hectare during last 10 years. He said that power generation in the state was 2900 MW, which has been increased to 10 thousand 600 MW now. More power is planned to be generated in next 5 years.
The Chief Minister said that state government has implemented welfare schemes for all sections of society after holding direct interaction with them. Shri Chouhan said that the state government benefited farmers by giving them Rs. 150 per quintal bonus on procurement of wheat. He said that Rs.150 per quintal bonus will also be given on paddy. Labourers whose names are not included in Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana will also be provided food grains on special concessional rates. Besides, the poor will also be given pattas of lands on which they are living.
At Keolari, Shri Chouhan laid foundation stones for 4 development works costing Rs. 872.34 lakh and inaugurated 19 works costing Rs. 316.19 lakh.
