Ensure maximum assistance for Uttarakhand calamity-affected people: Governor

Bhopal: Governor Shri Ram Naresh Yadav has urged vice-chancellors of universities in the state to extend financial assistance and every possible cooperation for relief to Uttarakhand calamity-affected persons. governor Shri Yadav was addressing a meeting of vice-chancellors in this regard at Raj Bhavan today.
It was decided at the meeting that all officers and employees of all universities will donate their one-day salary to Relief Fund. It was directed that the universities, which have already deposited one-day salary in Relief Fund will inform about it to Raj Bhavan administration immediately. Remaining universities will deduct one-day salary of their officers and employees and provide the same to Raj Bhavan administration, which in turn will send it to Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
Governor Shri Yadav said that large number of devotees and tourists are facing massive destruction and devastation in Kedarnath, Uttarkashi and other places of Uttarakhand due to excessive rains. Entire country is shaken by reports of deaths and large number of people missing in this calamity. Ill-effects of the calamity are still coming to fore. Governor Shri Yadav said that universities should also express solidarity with the families of those killed in Uttarakhand calamity and ensure effective measures to alleviate their sufferings.
Expressing grief over the death of people in the calamity, wish was also expressed for early recovery of the injured. Governor Shri Yadav also referred to satisfactory efforts made by Madhya Pradesh government in this regard.
The Governor appealed to all sections of society, specially major industrial houses and commercial establishments to contribute liberally to provide relief to calamity-affected people. He said that massive destruction by natural calamity in Uttarakhand is a matter of concern for entire nation. All must cooperate with Uttarakhand government for this.
Principal Secretary to Governor Shri Vinod Semwal, Controller Shri Vinod Chaturvedi, all vice-chancellors of all universities attended the meeting.
