Eight Injured as Police Clash with Student outside Minister’s House

In a clash that broke out between students and policemen outside the residence of a state minister against an alleged slapping case, at least three students and five cops were injured.

According to reports, a mob of students headed by NSUI president Rashmi Pawar had gathered outside the residence of Water Resources Minister Jayant Mallaiya to register protest against the slapping of a girl purportedly by minister’s wife Sudha Mallaiya, also a BJP leader, during an argument on the issue of infringement of hostel rules.

Jaideep Prasad, Bhopal Superintendent of Police, said that during the protest agitated students attempted to enter the minister’s house following which police used force against them and consequently few students and five policemen were injured in the incident.

Police have registered a complaint against the protesting students.
