Directives to Prepare Initial Assessment Due to Flood Damage

Bhopal. Keeping in account the flood situation of Rewa, Satna and Panna districts due to heavy rains, Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed to keep all the necessary arrangements ready on account of predictions for heavy rains in the districts of the state. He also instructed the officials to prepare an initial assessment of the damage caused by the flood to be sent to the Central government. He was reviewing the situation caused by the heavy rains at his residence today.

Shri Choulan while discussing his recent visit to the flood affected areas of Rewa, Satna and Panna said that the damge has been caused to the houses due to the heavy rains. Also damage has been caused to the public properties. Hence, priority should be given to the housing facilities in these areas. He told the higher officials to ensure deployment of Disaster management teams in the affected areas. Also, arrangement for motor boats and potable water should be made immediately. Moreover, keeping in account the heavy rains predictions, administration and team engaged in relief works should be more vigilant and alert in all the districts of the state. Shri Chouhan instructed the officials to keep constant touch with the Army to call them in case of any emergency. He told the officials to inform and alert all the people of areas before releasing water from the dams.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that there is a possibility for spread of diseases after the rains stop. Hence, bleaching powder and tablets of chlorine should be made available immediately to counter this situation. He also instructed the officials to arrange boats for the people residing near the banks of the rivers. Besides cleaning of drainage system should be undertaken immediately to avoid water logging.

Shri Chouhan instructed to strengthen the disaster management arrangements and asked the disaster management team to be more vigilant and prepared in the districts where there is a possibility of heavy rains. Further, Shri Chouhan directed to send technical teams to Rewa, Satna and Panna districts and instructed the senior officials to keep constant touch with the district collectors by distributing district wise responsibilities among themselves. Assessment as regard to damage caused to the houses and crops should be started immediately. Also deploy NDRF teams in order to help the affected families, he added.

Gauri Singh, Principal Secretary Agriculture Shri Rajesh Rajora, CM Secretary Shri Vivek Agarwal and Commissioner Public Relations Shri Anupam Rajan were present in the meeting.
