Country’s Biggest and First Ever Crop Insurance Claim Distribution Today

Bhopal. Biggest and first ever crop insurance claim distribution programme of Indian history will take place on December 10. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will inaugurate the programme to distribute crop insurance claim worth Rs. 4416 crore to 20 lakh 46 thousand farmers of the state from Ujjain district. It may be highlighted that Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country where such a big crop insurance claim will be distributed among the farmers. It is also a coincidence that the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had announced Prime Minister Crop Insurance scheme at Sherpur of district Sehore during the Farmers’ Grand Convention held on February 18, 2016. This has become possible due to the sensitivity towards the farmers, effective implementation of the crop insurance scheme and promptness of the Chief Minister Shri Chouhan.

Minister for Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Shri Gourishankar Bisen informed that farmers who lost Kharif Crop in the year 2015 due to natural calamities are being benefited under the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme first in the country. He further informed that the Chief Minister Shri Chouhan had distributed Rs. 4600 crore relief amount against the loss to Kharif Crop 2015 earlier from the disaster fund. Therefore farmers will receive over Rs. 9 thousand crore compensation amount against their losses. Beside this, Madhya Pradesh was the second state of the country which had distributed huge amount of Rs. 2187 crore to 14 lakh farmers against the damage to Kharif Crop-2013. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan was with the farmers during the natural calamity of 2015. He not only toured 36 districts of the state but inspected the damage, consoled the farmers and now he has fulfilled his commitment.

Moreover Shri Bisen informed that the crop insurance claim distribution will take place in all the 51 districts of the state with the beginning of crop insurance claim distribution by the Chief Minister at Ujjain. Camps will be held at all Tahsils. Beside letter of the Chief Minister, certificate of insurance claim amount will be provided to the farmers in the camps. If any beneficiary could not attend the programme than revenue officer will himself handover the certificate visiting his home. Moreover the Chief Minister Shri Chouhan will present a roadmap to the farmers to double the agriculture income during the programme at Ujjain. All the District Collectors will inform about the roadmap in the districts. Furthermore, approval letters for agriculture equipments like sprinklers, drip set, seed cum fertilizer drill, seed under the Annapurna Scheme, keys of tractors etc. will be provided to the beneficiaries during the programme. Also information regarding new agriculture techniques and crop insurance will be provided to the farmers.

Shri Bisen informed that under the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme, claim amount mainly of over Rs. 400 crore at Sehore and Dewas, Rs. 300 crore at Ujjain and Vidisha, Rs. 200 crore at Rajgarh, Sagar, Hoshangabad, Shajapur, Mandsaur and Rs. 100 crore at Raisen, Harda, Agar-Malwa, Narsinghpur, Neemuch, Betul and Indore will be distributed. Forty lakh farmers including 4 lakh farmers who have not obtained loans were linked to the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme in the state.

Directives have already been issued to all the district collectors for necessary arrangements.
