Civic Polls: Congress Releases List of Four Mayors, 23 Candidates for Bhopal
Bhopal — The Congress party on Wednesday declared four of its 13 mayoral candidates ahead of the civic body polls and also released a partial list of 23 candidates for the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
The mayoral candidates include Uma Sangal (Gwalior), Lekha Choudhary (Sagar), Jayantilal Jain (Ratlam) and Rekha Verma (Dewas).
Suspense however continues to shroud the remaining BMC candidates as powerful party leaders are still in discussions to work out a consensus especially in the old city areas.
Sources say talks would continue through the night and a final list could be expected by Thursday, the last day for filing nominations for Bhopal.
The list of BMC candidates released on Wednesday includes- Shamim Farooqui (ward 1), Vatsayan Jain (ward 2), Mahira Salamuddin (ward 5), Kailash Mishra (ward 6), Swati Kaushal (ward 18), Shabista Asif Zaki (ward 22), Santosh (ward 27), Praveen Saxena (ward 28), Tasleem Lashkari (ward 30), Hemlata Raju (ward 36), Krishna Sahu (ward 37), Kalpana Gohil (ward 43), Daisy Rani (ward 47), Kajal Bakhru (ward 49), Rachna Pankaj (ward 51), Mukesh Gajbhiye (ward 56), Fakira Kachke (ward 57), Nirmala Maure (ward 60), Girish Sharma (ward 62), Monica Jain (ward 64), Sunita Mahendra Gurjar (ward 66), Sajid Hussain (ward 68), Shahida Khan (ward 69).
