Congress Leader Arrested for Party MLAs Murder

Bhind district Congress unit vice-president, Tej Narayan Shukla, has been arrested for alleged involvement in the murder of party legislator Makhan Singh Jatav, say media reports citing police officials.

“The investigation conducted so far in the Jatav murder case indicated that Congress leaders had conspired to kill him, with the main culprit being Bhind district Congress vice president Tej Narayan Shukla who is now under arrest,” RS Ruhal, a police officer in Gohad, was quoted as saying by IANS.

Jatav, who represented the Gohad assembly segment, was shot from point blank range by four unidentified attackers near Chharetav village in Bhind on April 13.

He was returning after canvassing for Bhagirath Prasad, the Congress Lok Sabha candidate from the area.

The Congress is seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into Jatav’s murder.

With the motive behind the murder still unclear, the police is now reportedly preparing for a narco-analysis to be conducted on the accused and is likely to seek requisite permissions from a court on Tuesday.
