Cong Leader Rathore Charged with Minister’s Murder Takes Oath as MLA

After securing an anticipatory bail from the Supreme Court, Congress legislature Brajendra Singh Rathore, one of the accused of murder of the BJP minister Sunil Nayak, was sworn in as the member of the state Assembly on Monday.

Rathore appeared in the Assembly with leader of opposition Jamuna Devi and took oath.

It may be mentioned that Nayak, the BJP candidate from the Prithvipur Assembly constituency, was shot day on the day of polling for the Assembly polls in November 2008 near Prithvipur town in Tikamgarh district.

Contesting from the same seat, Rathore had won the election.

A case was registered against 11 persons in connection with the murder later. Of them, apart from Rathore, eight of his family members were also included. One of his brother identified as Yashpal Singh Rathore was arrested.

Brijendra Singh has been absconding since and after getting anticipatory bail from the Apex Court, he finally took oath.

Addressing the media persons later, Rathore said that he was far away from the spot where Nayak was shot dead and was fabricated in the matter by the government.

“If a fair probe by any agency takes place in the matter, everything would become crystal clear,” he said.
