Commitment to develop Bundelkhand: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the government is committed to ensuring development of Bundelkhand. Every possible effort will be made to bring about prosperity in people’s lives. Shri Chouhan was laying foundation stone of Bansujara dam at village Sujara in Tikamgarh district today. Water Resources and Finance Minister Shri Jayant Malaiya was also present on the occasion.

The Chief Minister said that soil of Bundelkhand is rich in mineral resources. Despite it, poverty prevails here. State government has made efforts to remove poverty in the area. He said that much good work has been done in recent years through Bundelkhand Development Authority and Bundelkhand Package and backwardness here has been removed. He said that efforts are being made by the state government to make Bundelkhand a developed region.

The Chief Minister referred to state government’s welfare schemes. He said that efforts have been made to ease farming by extending loans to farmers at zero percent interest rate. Area under irrigation has increased manifold during last 10 years. Wheat and rice are being provided to the poor at the rate of Re. one per kg. A labourer can purchase entire month’s food grains in just one day’s wages. Women will be given 33 percent reservation in police. Efforts are on to further reduce maternal and child mortality rates. Health services have been expanded. People are getting free paramedical tests and medicines at government hospitals.

On completion, Bansujara dam will irrigate Rabi crops in 60 thousand hectares in Tikamgarh district. It would be completed by year 2017.
