College Teachers on Indefinite Strike

Bhopal:  With the expiry of the September 4 deadline set by the state government for the resolution of their demands, Professors in Madhya Pradesh kicked-off an indefinite strike on Saturday.

The Shasakiya Mahavidyalayin Shikshak Sanyukta Sangharsh Samiti, an amalgam of teachers’ associations launching the campaign on Teachers’ Day said Samiti and its member organizations would not participate in any programmes organized to mark the occasion.

The teachers are seeking the implementation of revised pay scales, which state Education Minister Archana Chitnis had assured would be put in place by Sept. 4, the Samiti said in a statement.
