CM to athletes, Start preparations for Olympics from now

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that preparations for the Olympics to be held in 2016 should be started right now. If the Union Government gives permission, the State Government is ready to bear entire financial burden on hockey preparations. Shri Chouhan was addressing the inaugural function of Senior National Hockey Championship at the Aishbagh Stadium here today. The championship has been organised by the Sports & Youth Welfare Department. The inaugural match was played between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. MLA Shri Vishwas Sarang was also present on the occasion.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that hockey is grandeur of Bhopal. Efforts are afoot to give international status to Obaidullah Gold Cup Hockey Tournament which is held here. There is a possibility that foreign team will participate in this tournament.

Shri Chouhan said that the State Government is always ready to promote and give assistance to women’s hockey. Whenever women’s hockey needed financial assistance, the State Government has come forward to extend cooperation. In future also, funds will not allowed to come in the ay of basic facilities for hockey.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan formally declared the championship open. He also got introduction of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh team who played the inaugural match.

Secretary Sports & Youth Welfare Shri Ashok Shah and Director Dr. Shailendra Shrivastava welcome the guests. Teams participating in the championship made a march past before the Chief Minister. Sushri Suhasini Joshi sang Vande Matram.
