CM Promises Probe into Kothri Mashjid Case

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has assured a delegation from the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) that an impartial investigation would be conducted into the recent demolition of Kothri mosque at Ashta in Sehore district.

Chouhan told the delegation that his government did not wish to hurt the feelings of any community, Board members Arif Masood and Masih Alam told reporters in Bhopal on Monday.

Masood said that the delegation impressed upon the Chief Minister to build the Kothri mosque at the same place as according to Islam, a mosque if built cannot be shifted or demolished.

He said that the Kothri mosque was 200 years old and it finds mention in official records for the last 150 years.

The Kothri mosque, on the Bhopal-Indore road, was recently demolished to facilitate widening of the key road, over 40b temples have also been shifted as part of the exercise.
