CM Inaugurates All India Police Shooting Meet

Bhopal —  Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Tuesday inaugurated the 10th All-India Police Shooting Meet at Eklavya shooting range on the premises of 25th Battalion of Special Armed Force in the state capital.

Speaking on the occasion, Chouhan noted the positive impact such competitions would have on the marksmanship of police personnel.

Underlining the impetus given to sports by the state government, Chouhan said the sports department budget has been increased from a meager Rs 3 crore to Rs 80 crore, in the last 10 years.

He also spoke of the state government initiative to promote the national men’s and women’s hockey squads.

710 participants from seven paramilitary forces in 21 states and Union Territories are participating in the competition, which concludes on March 20.

The meet will include five competitions in long range big bore rifle, 6 in revolver/pistol segment and three in carbine/machine gun category.

The short and long ranges at the Eklavya shooting range have been renovated for the competition.

The welcome address was delivered by Director General of Police SK Rout.
