CM Directs Top Cops to Nab Gangrape Culprits

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has instructed the top police officials to make sure that the culprits who allegedly gangraped a woman after holding her husband hostage at gunpoint in a moving car on June 17.

The victim had come to Bhopal along with her husband from Mumbai and, after hearing the religious discourse at Asaram Bapu’s Ashram, took a lift in a car.

According to police sources, Chouhan called Director General of Police SK Raut, Range IG and Bhopal SP at his office yesterday and instructed them to nap the culprits at the earliest.

The Chief Minister said that it was highly disturbing that the woman was allegedly raped in-front of her husband in the moving car in the state capital and the culprits have not yet been arrested, sources said.

Superintendent of Police Jaideep said that police had picked up and interrogated 15 to 20 persons so far.

“Five persons are in police custody. We are quizzing them thoroughly,” Prasad said.

In the meanwhile, a team of Madhya Pradesh police had reached Mumbai to get more information from the victim about the accused, the SP said and added that the victim was in deep shock following the incident.

Prasad said that after getting information from the victim, police will prepare sketches of the accused.
