Citizens’ participation necessary for beautifying Bhopal: Chief Secretary

Bhopal: Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram took stock of wall painting organised for promotion of Bhopal Bus Rapid Transport System (BRTS) at Polytechnic Crossing here today. He also participated in wall painting. The Chief Secretary told the participants that citizens’ participation is necessary in making Bhopal a global-level city. Referring to BRTS, the Chief Secretary said this will prove to be important in regulating transport in Bhopal.
Every section of society participated in the wall paining organised by Bhopal Municipal Corporation. Despite heat spell, 240 participants drew wall paintings giving the message of conservation of environment and historic heritage, ending social evils like corruption, conserving energy resources and protecting wildlife.
The Chief Secretary said that Bhopal’s beauty is discussed in entire India. Its lake and greenery attract people towards the city. Only administration cannot maintain city’s beauty. The initiative taken now towards this should be continued in future also. He directed officers of Municipal Corporation and district administration to hold public participation programmes in future also. He said that metro rail will also become a part of the city in future. Responsibility for being ready for this rests with every citizen.
Chief Secretary Shri Parasuram saw the paintings drawn by participants and also interacted with them. Number of youths was more among participants. Collector Shri Nikunj Shrivastava and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shri Vishesh Garhpale were also present on the occasion.
Participants pay special attention to historic heritage: During wall painting, a number of participants drew paintings of Bhopal’s heritage. They drew attractive paintings of Taj-ul-Masajid and Upper Lake. In the paintings, they also appealed to citizens to preserve them. Some participants drew paintings of Sanchi Stupas and Bhojpur temple also.
