3 Central social security schemes unveiled at state level

Bhopal: Pradhanmantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhanmantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana were unveiled at a state level programme at Samanvay Bhavan here today. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, External Affairs Minister Smt. Sushma Swaraj, former CM Shri Kailash Joshi, MP Shri Alok Sanjar and MLA Shri Surendra Nath Singh were present on the occasion. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s speech at the national programme marking the occasion was also telecast live at the programme.

The Chief Minister said that all eligible persons will be given benefit of the three schemes unveiled by the Prime Minister. A drive will be conducted to register eligible persons during next 3 months. He said that the three schemes aim at serving and empowering the poor. Respect of senior citizens will increase after getting financial security. Expressing gratitude toward the Prime Minister on behalf of state’s people, the Chief Minister said that these schemes will create new confidence in common people and write a new chapter in the history of social security. He said that state government has deep connection with social security. In the state, wheat, rice and salt are being distributed at the rate of Re. one per kg. Scholarships are given from class I. The government has left no stone unturned in making available facilities for education. Arrangements for free treatment and medicine distribution have also been made.

Minister for External Affairs Smt. Sushma Swaraj said that a new beginning has been made in social security sector. A very large section of society is getting pension and insurance cover. Informing about the three schemes, she said that under Pradhanmantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, every person will get Rs. 2 lakh accident insurance cover for just Rs. 12 per annum. Under Pradhanmantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, anyone can get insurance cover of Rs. 2 lakh for justice Rs. 330 annual premium. Informing in detail about Atal Pension Yojana, she said that a person under the scheme will start getting pension from 60 years of age. In case of death, pension will be given to his wife. In case of death of both, pension will be given to their children.

Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa informed about efforts of the state government regarding implementation of the schemes. State Level Bankers Committee Coordinator Shri Rajiv Rishi delivered the welcome address. Commissioner Institutional Finance Shri Vivek Agrawal proposed a vote of thanks. Certificates of Pradhanmantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhanmantri Suraksha Bima Yojana were distributed to 11 beneficiaries.
