Chief Minister leaves for Eight day tour of USA

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan left this evening for eight-day tour of USA. During the tour, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan will hold discussions with officers of the World Bank, prominent investors of USA, educationists and non-resident Indians. He will given presentations on women’s empowerment in Madhya Pradesh and development works at the World Bank and Michigan University.

It is noteworthy that various schemes like Ladli Laxmi, Gaon Ki Beti, Usha Kiran, Mukhyamantri Kanyadan and reservation to women in jobs and local bodies launched by the State Government have been regarded as very important by the World Bank towards women’s empowerment. The World Bank has invited the Chief Minister to present these achievements of the State Government and measures adopted by it successfully before entire world. The Chief Minister will hold discussions on state’s ambitious irrigation projects, river link project to link Narmada, Kali Sindh, Parvati and Gambhir rivers at a cost of Rs. 18 thousand crore, construction of Anganwadi buildings, extension of loans to farmers at zero percent interest rate and economic cooperation. Shri Chouhan will also hold discussions with prominent investors at a meeting to be held under the aegis of United States Indian Business Council on the possibilities of investment in Madhya Pradesh’s development works.

During the USA visit, Shri Chouhan will deliver a lecture on Madhya Pradesh and India’s basic development possibilities at Michigan University. During the tour being undertaken on the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, Shri Chouhan will pay tributes to him at Swami Vivekananda Memorial in Chicago. The Chief Minister will also meet members of Indian community and hold discussions with them on various occasions.

Shri Chouhan will reach Mumbai tonight and will leave from there for New York at 1.30 am as per Indian Standard Time. He will reach Liberty International Airport of New York on September 30 at 7.55 am as per US time. He will leave New York at 10.30 am reaching Washington at 11.43 am.

A large number of citizens bade farewell to Chief Minister Shri Chouhan and his wife Smt. Sadhna Singh at the airport by garlanding them and presenting bouquets. State BJP president and Rajya Sabha member Shri Prabhat Jha, Ministers Shri Sartaj Singh, Dr. Narottam Mishra, Kunwar Vijay Shah, Shri Jagdish Deora, Shri Nagendra Singh, Shri Umashankar Gupta, Shri Kanhaiyalal Agrawal, Shri Mahendra Hardia, chairpersons of corporations and boards, MLAs, Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram and a large number of workers were also present on the occasion.
