Centre lauds implementation of PICA in Madhya Pradesh
Bhopal: The Union Government has lauded novel sports scheme “PICA” of Madhya Pradesh. In a letter, the Union Sports & Youth Welfare Department has lauded the state’s Sports & Youth Welfare Department for promoting implementation of this scheme for development of sports infrastructure. It has also asked other states to replicate this scheme.
Congratulating officers and employees of the department, Minister of State for Tourism and Sports (Independent charge) Shri Brijendra Pratap Singh has said that it is the result of their coordination and team work that the state is emerging pioneer in sports as well.
It is noteworthy that a three member team of Central Mission Directorate “PICA” had visited Madhya Pradesh and presented its report about development of basic sports infrastructure through PICA.
The main objective of PICA Scheme in the state is to provide opportunity of participating in sports apart from making available basic sports infrastructure and material. For this, youth coordinators have been appointed and assigned difference responsibilities. These coordinators coach emerging and talented rural sportspersons and also apprise them of various government schemes.
