Campaign for Better Academic Performance, Teacher Training scheduled

Bhopal:   In view of the dismal showing by students in the recently concluded high school and higher secondary exams, the state government has launched an intensive campaign to improve student performance in the current academic year.

The school education department will now impart state level training to teachers/lecturers of class IX to XII, the decision was taken at a meeting chaired by School Education Minister Archana Chitnis in the state capital on Saturday.

Addressing the meeting, Chitnis said that the large scale training programme will also be extended to cover teachers of schools being conducted by Tribal Welfare Department.

Calling on the schools to make alternative arrangements to ensure that studies were not affected by the training, the minister said that an analysis of the results in the 2008-09 academic session led to the realization of the need to train Mathematics, English, Science and Sanskrit teachers for X and English, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics for class XII.

3000 high school teachers and 1000 higher secondary teachers will be imparted training during the schedule. Later, these trained teachers will impart training to state level source teachers from August 24 to 28.
