Blot of power cuts removed in state with 24X7 power supply

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the State Government has fulfilled its commitment for eradicating blot of power cuts in Madhya Pradesh by ensuring 24X7 power supply. Atal Jyoti Abhiyan has been launched for this purpose. Shri Chouhan was launching the Abhiyan in Ashok Nagar district at Mungawali town today. He announced tahsil status for Piprai from August 15, sanction of a 132 KV power sub-station and early completion of cluster drinking water scheme. The Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 43 works costing Rs. 162 crore.

Shri Chouhan said that electricity bills of huge amounts of the poor will be waived. Upto 25 unit power will be supplied free to BPL families. He said that Rs. 23 thousand crore has been spent on ensuring 24X7 power supply. With round-the-clock power supply, network of small and cottage industries will spread in the state and employment opportunities will be created at local level. Referring to revolutionary welfare and beneficiary-oriented schemes of the State Government, the Chief Minister said urged youths to become self-reliant by setting up their own industries and business availing benefit of Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Yojana.

The Chief Minister said that farmers have been freed from difficulties of meter reading and depositing electricity bills every month. For this, farmers have been allowed to deposit power bills twice a year at the flat rate of Rs. 1200 per horsepower per annum. He said that surcharge on old electricity bills will be waived and 50 percent of basic amount will be paid by the State Government.

Energy Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla said that 815 villages of Ashok Nagar district will be freed from power cuts with the launch of Atal Jyoti Abhiyan. He said that 24X7 power supply was necessary to ensure that villages also enjoy city-like facilities. This process has been started from today.

At the function, the Chief Minister gave away Atal Jyoti Abhiyan’s kits to 14 sarpanchas. Minister of State for Urban Administration and in-charge of district Shri Manohar Untwal, Zila Panchayat President Shri Malkeet Singh Sandhu, Vice-President Shri Yadvendra Singh Yadav, MLAs Shri Rao Deshraj Singh, Shri Ladduram Kori, Shri Rao Rajkumar Singh, former Minister Shri Gopilal Jatav, former MLA Shri Neelam Singh Yadav, Shir Jagannath Singh Raghuvanshi and other public representatives were present on the occasion.
