Bhopal misses 1st spot of Eat Right Challenge just by 3 number

The state has made a big achievement in the Eat Right Challenge competition. Bhopal has secured the second position in the Eat Right Challenge competition of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. While Gwalior has secured the fifth position and Ujjain has secured the eighth position. Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu has been ranked first in the country and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh has been ranked third. On the other hand, Indore, which was at the first position in the country last year, has reached the 23rd position. Sagar has also secured the 25th position in this list.

 

The competition was held across the country from May to November last year. In the report released on Thursday, Bhopal became the second most ‘safe and clean food’ city in the country. Bhopal got 193 marks out of 200, while Coimbatore got 196 marks. Bhopal got 2 marks deducted in two categories i.e. inspection and 5 marks in redressal of complaints. This is also the main reason for lagging behind in the competition. Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi stood third with 192 points and West Bengal’s Malda stood fourth with 192 points.

 

Last year Bhopal was at number three. But Indore, which was number one last year, has reached number 23 in this challenge. Indore has got zero marks in many categories. He could score only 162 marks. Out of 260 districts of the country, Gwalior was ranked 5th, Ujjain 8th, Rewa 18th and Sagar 25th.

 

On the instructions of the Food Safety and Authority of India, 347 shops of the city were to be inspected, but the Bhopal team could inspect only 286 shops. It got 8 out of 10 numbers.

 

Food Officer DK Verma said that Bhopal has got 100% marks in most of the categories. These include food license registration, surveillance guide sampling, legal sampling. Apart from this, food manufacturers got production filled throughout the year, bhog (food certification of two gurudwaras), hygiene rating and training was given to 400 people. 5 Eat Right Campuses, demonstrations of fortified ration at public places and public campaigning at more than 125 places. At the same time, Bhopal got full marks in social media and innovation.
