“Best Indian Destination for Wildlife” Award for MP Tourism

Bhopal: Lonely Planet Group conferred “Best Indian Destination for Wildlife” Award to Madhya Pradesh Tourism in Mumbai on Friday. The award was bestowed by function’s chief guest and film actor Shri Tushar Kapoor to Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Dr. Mohan Yadav.

It is noteworthy that selection for the award is done by readers of Lonely Planet magazine through online voting. The Lonely Planet Group publishes monthly magazines pertaining to tourism.
It may be mentioned here that there are 25 wildlife sanctuaries and 9 National Parks in Madhya Pradesh. Of these, Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Pench and Panna are famous for tigers. Natural environs and dense forests here are suitable for tiger population.
A number of programmes have been implemented in the state for preservation of wildlife and vegetation. As a result, Kanha and Panna have established their identity as the most beautiful National Parks in Asia while Bandhavgarh and Pench are famous for tiger reserves. Tourists interest in wildlife are greatly attracted to these places. A number of facilities are being provided to these tourists by Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation. These facilities will be expanded further in future.
Lonely Planet magazine’s CEO Shri Tarun Roy, film actor and model Shri John Abraham, magazine’s editor Shri Vardhan Kondvikar, tour operators, travel agents, travel media and representatives of noted hotel groups were present on the occasion.
