Antyesthi Sahayata Yojana for labourers, destitutes, poor and unclaimed bodies

Bhopal: Rs. 2000 each will be given under Antyesthi Sahayata Yojana-2013 for performing last rites of members registered under labour welfare schemes, destitutes, poor and unclaimed bodies. The scheme has been launched for 12th Five-Year Plan period. Social Justice Department has issued a notification to this effect.

Under the scheme, funeral will be performed as per religious rites of deceased. The labour welfare schemes include Madhya Pradesh Mazdoor Suraksha Yojna, Madhya Pradesh Mukhyamantri Hath-thela & Cycle Rickshaw Chalak, Chief Minister’s Scheme for Urban Street Vendors, Kesh Shilpi Yojana, Hammal Evam Tulawati Kalyan Yojana and Madhya Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. Besides, labour class will also be given benefit of Deendayal Upchar Yojana, Rajya Beemari Sahayata Yojana, Mukhyamantri Bal Upchar Yojana Aam Admi Bima and Janshree Yojana, Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana and Mukhyamantri Nikah Yojana.

Families of labourers of unorganised sector registered under various schemes have to face difficulty in performing last rites due to grave financial crisis in case of death in the family. In such cases, last rites of deceased are performed by collecting donations from local people or borrowing money. Keeping this difficulty in view, State Government has launched this scheme. Benefit of the scheme will be extended to all such families as well as for last rites of destitutes and unclaimed bodies.

For sanctioning assistance amount, Janpad CEO in rural areas and Commissioners Municipal Corporation/Chief Municipal Officers have been authorised. Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat will provide immediate assistance after receiving information of death in a labourer’s family. Sanction will be granted in urban areas by Zonal Officers. This assistance amount will be given on verbal or written information by person performing last rites.

For reimbursement of amount provided for last rites, Gram Panchayat Sarpanch will present claim to Janpad Panchayat CEO in rural areas and Zonal Officer to Commissioner Municipal Corporation/Chief Municipal Officer in urban areas along with documents. The documents will include certificate of funeral issued by crematorium/cemetery, death certificate, copy of FIR in case of death in accident/dispute & panchnama and doctor’s certificate in case of death in hospital. Names of persons to whom last rites’ assistance has been given and amount paid to them will be displayed on Social Justice Department’s portal (Time Portal).
