All eligible students should get benefits of scholarship schemes

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that students should not face any kind of problem for acquiring scholarship. The benefit of scholarship schemes should be given to all the eligible students within time limit for which the availability of adequate budget should be ensured.

Chouhan was taking a meeting on simplification of SC, ST and OBC Post Matric Scholarship process and uniformity of portal at his residence today. Higher Education Minister Mohan Yadav, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Additional Chief Secretary Health Mohammad Suleman and senior officers were present.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that the scholarship for the session 2022-23 should be given by the month of October. Also, the payment of the remaining scholarship of the last three sessions should be paid expeditiously. He said that post-matric scholarship worth Rs 590 crore would be provided to scheduled caste students, Rs 348 crore to scheduled tribe students and Rs 750 crore to backward class students. This includes the amount of schemes of the Government of India and the state government.

The Chief Minister Chouhan said that there should be no fraud in the scholarship process and uniformity of portal is necessary to maintain transparency. For all categories of scholarships, the age limit is to be increased to 30 years at the postgraduate level. Maximum age of 35 years for getting PhD level scholarship and for students studying in two courses, the difference up to a maximum of 02 years will be valid. All eligible children of one parent will be eligible to get the Post Matric Scholarship. He said that the admission process should be decided for the eligibility of scholarship. Admission to the engineering course is to be given through integrated counselling.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that action should be taken as per the prescribed academic calendar for the payment of scholarship for the academic session 2022-23. Chief Minister Chouhan said that it is the priority of the state government to fully cooperate with the students. He directed that the rates of scholarship should be rationalized. Make necessary preparations for the biometric attendance of the students as well.

It was informed in the meeting that from the year 2021-22, approval of all the applications of the Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Welfare Department, on the same lines as the Tribal Affairs Department, and payment are being processed through the MPTAAS portal. The scholarship will be valid only for the duration of the course.
